Hello! My name is Krys (they/them), M.A.

I’m a queer settler on the unceded territory of lək̓ʷəŋən, Songhees and Esquimalt/Xʷsepsəm Nations. I believe that education is a powerful tool for creating connections - both to ourselves and to others.

During my formative years, I experienced adversity, including exposure to abuse, addiction, and time in foster care.

These challenges motivated me to pursue formal education and a career in social services, where I could connect with those I served.

By combining my lived experience, professional background, and education, I founded Explicit Education. My vision is to share information that promotes a more inclusive and accepting community.

Informed by a graduate certificate in sexual health, lived experience and graduate research in community-based sex education, Explicit Education provides thorough sex education for both youth and adults. Covering a range of topics that include, and extend beyond, the BC PHE curriculum, along with specialized subjects for continued learning, our workshops can be tailored to your group's specific educational needs.
Explicit Education’s values and philosophy are based in evidence-based, comprehensive and inclusive sex education. It does not offer abstinence-based workshops, and 2SLGTQ+ topics are deliberately included in all content.

Informed by lived experience, work experience, an undergraduate degree in sociology and a master’s degree in leadership, I teach through collaborative learning, helping participants explore topics that deepen their understanding of diverse experiences.
